The Insider’s Guide to Website Design

So, you want to have a great-looking website and have decided to create the content yourself? Good for you. But where do you begin? Having a great website design is the key to having a successful site on today's web. Knowing the fundamentals and having some inside guidance to website design is critical for recognizing Google's search engine pages. Do not worry. We have the tips and guidance necessary to get you up and to run successfully.

What will your domain name be?

It is always a good practice to start at the top and work your way down in terms of the complexity of your site. Firstly, you should determine the domain name for your site. This may require you to do some research on the available names. USA domain name availability is typically found when visiting your domain and web hosting services page. If you intend to build your site within WordPress, ensuring that you have a WordPress domain and hosting is necessary to ensure no internal issues with your site once you go live.

Redirecting and Forwarding

When you use domain name registration services, you may wish to purchase as many low-cost domain registration variations of your main domain as possible. You do not have to use all of these domains. However, by having ownership of the variables, you can either forward/redirect potential clients to your site or hold the domain to minimize traffic to another site with a similar name.

Drawing it out

Plan your site's visual appearance with website blocking. Website blocking takes your thoughts and ideas for the page's content and then creates a storyboard of the overall design. This is not the final look but a conceptualization of where things need to be to have the best design. Generally, your website designer can create a quick layout of the site. If you wish to have a look at the complete aesthetics before scripting, you can create a mock-up using industry-standard software such as Adobe XD or Photoshop.

Keep in mind that most mock-ups will need to be sliced (if the designer has not saved the components to layers), and those items will need to be in .jpg format .png format for images. The functionality of the mock-up will vary depending upon the software used and your needs.

Please keep it simple in 2021

2021 Website Designs are trending to a more straightforward designer or retro-type graphics. When retro designs are used, they should be coupled with CSS to provide user engagement and animated content. Sites that are too cluttered will tend to have less user engagement and risk poorer SERPs. Clean Compiled and Flat Formatted sites are ideal for this year.

Colours used within your site should also be kept to a minimum. Depending upon the function and focus of your site will determine the boldness or subdued colours used. E-commerce sites should stick to a maximum of 4 colours and keep the colours flat and soothing. Try to find colours that complement your product's more significant part rather than having a colour pallet that competes with it. Sites that offer fun and exciting services are encouraged to push the envelope in their colour pallet. Keep in mind that going too bold may cause eye strain. Combine bold colours with icons and/or line base illustrations for the best results.

Be very mindful of your content.

Text and content are shifting a great deal in 2021. Bold text should be used in videos and your website's logo and main header. Yet, in the text and content, you should avoid using such. Text for 2021 is going back to simple web-friendly fonts for content. Therefore, Google has seen this trend and updated its algorithms to focus on sites that use the appropriate subheadings (h1, h2, h3, etc.).

Links within your content must have the proper tags for your website design to succeed. Any links from affiliates and sponsorships must have the ref="sponsorship" qualifier. Guest post must have the ref=" nofollow". As Google is changing their requirements throughout 2021, it is strongly recommended that you research any updates to the SERP algorithm before having your site go live.

Check, Verify, Fix, and Repeat

Once your website design is complete and you have the right domain and web hosting services, check how well your site performs on various browsers and platforms. Checks should be conducted on Google, Yahoo, Bing, and MSN. Furthermore, you should conduct a mobile-friendly check on Android and Apple-based devices.

Finally, perform a matric test on your site to see the rendering time of your site. Sites must load within 2 seconds to be successful. Should you find your site lagging, fix the size of your images, media, and compile scrips. Check your site often and update data and scripts as necessary. With due diligence, a focus on design trends, and excellent scripting, you can have a site on the top search engine result pages.
